Re: [MISP] MPAA

After we finished post on a film I directed while in Dallas, HORROR HIGH, in the mid-70s, I took it out for an MPAA rating. It had a lot of blood, but NO sex, save for one tiny kiss, and NO language save for a couple of hell's and damn's, and they gave it an "X" for Violence.

After Crown International picked up the picture for distribution they took the film back to the MPAA with NO edits and got up upgraded to an "R." I'm just sayin'...

Why would they be, Michael? They are solely there to make sure the Sexopoly has no competition and make a profit. How many films outside of the control of the big 6 actually GET a theatrical release rating?

Has anyone else seen the doc This Film Has Not Yet Been Rated. I realize it was released in '05, but I just saw it on Netflix. Wow. What a tyrannical organization. I don't think that the MPAA or the appeals board is in it for the good of the film makers. Some sort of weird conspiracy is afoot there.
