Re: [MISP] Film Non-Profits

Fiscal sponsorship is an important service to offer in NM Pamela. It is great to know as Friends of Film gets lots of requests about fiscal sponsorship, so now we can forward them to your organization based on the parameters  you outline, and list it on our website.

We operate as a non-profit under Harwood Art Center. That allows us to be filmmakers, rather than get bogged down with IRS reporting/administration.  So this set-up has been the best approach for us.  We function essentially as a film cooperative, run by members for members. We can turn on a dime depending on current needs/directions and our mission has always been to do what is in the best interest of indie resident filmmakers. We began in earnest in 2005 because we sought community and opportunity as locals. Connecting the dots of support now is a good thing.       www.filmvideoarts.org

I was doing some research in to film related non-profits in New Mexico.  I
would like to develop some projects that need non-profit partners so I was
curious who was out there.  I think it is important to be involved in one
or more of these organizations to show your support for the industry as
well as for networking opportunities.

There is http://www.facebook.com/MPANM which recently formed and is
working on their non-profit status as we speak I believe.

New Mexico Women in Film http://www.nmwif.com/ We've had several wonderful
guest speakers from this organization at our college.

Friends of Film http://www.filmvideoarts.org/

I'd love to hear what other non-profits you know about in our state.

Many thanks,
