Hey everyone...

I hope you're all doing well. Seems like it's been a busy year in
many ways -- and an interesting season.

LAST DAY FOR EARLY VOTING!
Today is the last day for early voting. If you haven't voted already,
it's important that you get out there today or this coming Tuesday.
Info on early voting sites is availabe at: http://www.sos.state.nm.us/EnglishEV.html

There's really a lot of good activity going on in the digital world.
You might check out the following (if you're on twitter): @nmpost
@nm_games @rgasiggraph @nmtechcouncil They/we have plenty of events,
but I highly suggest saving the date of December 4th for the very
special SIGGRAPH Holiday in Las Cruces.

Finally, it's a pleasure to announce the new chairperson of our Rio
Grande IGDA Chapter, Jon Whetzel. Jon's been instrumental in the
operations and growth of our local game development community -- and
the info he's sharing below is one of the absolute best opportunities
available for aspiring game developers. I highly recommend checking
it out and spreading the word!

Best wishes,

Eric

Subject: [RG-IGDA] GDC 2011 Now Accepting Applications for Conference
Associates
To: riogrande-igda@googlegroups.com

Howdy!

The Game Developers Conference is now accepting applications for
anyone interested in serving as a Conference Associate (volunteer) for
the upcoming conference (Feb 28 - Mar 4, 2011). By agreeing to
volunteer for 20 hours during the conference you will receive an "All
Access" pass for free, allowing you entry into any part of the
conference while not on duty. I highly recommend this program to
anyone interested in attending the conference but cannot readily
afford the high cost of entry.

Here's some math for you. Typically GDC prices run from $250 (expo
only), main conference ($1000), and $1500 (all access). Expo & main
conference occur the last three days with all conference days
nominally running from 9:00 am - 5:30 pm each day (approx 43 hrs total
for conference).

Buying a main conference pass = $1000 for 23 hrs of access to latter
part of conference.
Serving as CA = 20 hrs of work for 23 hrs of access spread over the
entire conference.

Students: If you're interested in game development as a career you
need to get your buns to this conference. The CA program is a
fantastic opportunity to make this happen.

Thanks!
