Re: [MISP] Digital SLR Workshop: High-End/Lo Cost Video Shoots

Hi Elaine,
I'm interested in attending this class.
We have a recently formed 501(c)(3) non profit, approved by the IRS in June of this year.
Do you have a non-profit rate?
Thanks!

Split Estate Wins an Emmy!

Dear Friends,

Last night at Lincoln Center in New York, Split Estate was awarded an Emmy for Outstanding Individual Achievement in a Craft: Research.

We gratefully acknowledge Mitchell Marti and Matt Vest, our researchers, and Planet Green for shepherding the film so brilliantly to its national television broadcast.

We also thank the journalists who exposed the story; all of our partners, supporters, and colleagues in this project and in the larger movement; the activists and organizations that work with such fierce dedication for a clean and just energy future; and the many families and communities that live with oil and gas — for their countless, daily acts of courage on behalf of the land, our collective health and our civil rights.

To the individuals and families featured in the film, the depth of our gratitude and respect is inexpressible.

Thank you.

Debra Anderson and Red Rock Pictures

I hate to add to the full mailboxes, but I want to request that participants please discontinue the "extraneous" political discussion before the group dissolves.

We lost many valued participants the last time the message board went "off-topic" and the exodus is starting again.  The list was established for the dissemination of information about the media industry in New Mexico – let's keep it that way.

This is a very bad idea, for a number of reasons.  Not the least of which is that whenever a Constitutional Convention is held the entire constitution is up for change, not just the addition of an amendment that some individuals may want.  Personally, in the current political climate, I would not like to see the possibility of the entire constitution taken apart and reconstructed.  Not only would such an endeavor create political chaos in this country, I believe it would send the international economy into a heretofore unimagined tailspin.
There are other mechanisms for proposing the addition of an amendment to the constitution which I think should be employed before such a drastic and unpredictable course of action is taken.  Just my thoughts.

Re: [MISP] Fwd: From Jim Gossard-This is important and timely

Someone sent this info to me out of the blue, and although I first thought it was interesting news,  I later realized it was inappropriate for the list.  I had no idea it was going around for years, as I'm not really in the loop for political e-mails.
My apologies.
Have a good day!

This e-mail is "mostly false", by the way (according to Snopes:
http://www.snopes.com/politics/medical/28thamendment.asp ) and is a variation on one that's been going around for years that is even more mostly false (according to Snopes).

P.S. Back to business, here's a fascinating video about the making of the Nokia "Dot" video which many of you have probably seen: http://vimeo.com/15056338

And HOW is it "inappropriate" that the congressmen (and congresswomen) not be subject to the same laws that govern the rest of us???

While this list-serve may not be the proper place for such observations, I hardly think that  "I will make a point of never working with you"  is in any way appropriate. Please pull back the rhetoric...

I will make a point of never working with you. Totally unprofessional use of the listserve.

I believe this is an inappropriate message for the MISP list. I personally
would appreciate it if you don't send others of a similar nature.

Thank you.

Subject: Fw: From Jim Gossard-This is  important and timely

The Time Has Indeed  Come!

Governors of 35 states have already filed  suit against the Federal
Government
for imposing unlawful  burdens upon them. It only takes 38 (of the 50)
States
to convene a  Constitutional Convention.

This will take less than  thirty seconds to read. If you agree, please
pass it
on.

An idea  whose time has come!

For too long we have been too  complacent about the workings of
Congress. Many citizens had no idea that  members of Congress could retire with the
same pay after
only one term, that  they specifically exempted themselves from many of
the laws
they have passed (such  as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for
sexual harassment) while  ordinary citizens must live under those laws. The
latest was to
exempt themselves from the  Healthcare Reform ... in all of its forms.
Somehow, that doesn't seem  logical. We do not have an elite that is above the
law.

I truly don't care if they are Democrat, Republican, Libertarian,
Independent or whatever. The self-serving must stop.

A Constitutional  Convention - this is a good way to do that. It is an
idea whose time has  come. And, with the advent of modern communication, the
process can
be moved along with  incredible speed. There is talk out there that the
"government"
doesn't care what the  people think. That is irrelevant. It is incumbent
on the population to  address elected officials to the wrongs afflicted
against the populace...you  and me. Think about this...

The 26th amendment  (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took
only 3 months & 8  days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded
it. That was in  1971...before computers, before e-mail, before cell
phones,
etc.
Of  the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took 1 year or less
to  become
the law of  the land...all because of public pressure.

I'm asking  each addressee to forward this Email to a minimum of twenty
people
on their Address list;  in turn ask each of those to do likewise.

In three  days, most people in The United States of America will have
the  message.
This is  one proposal that really should be passed around.

Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution:
"Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United
States
that does  not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives;
and, Congress
shall make no law that  applies to the Senators and/or Representatives
that does
not apply equally to  the citizens of the United States ."

You are one of my  20+.

Keep it  going.
