Another announcement for a Las Cruces event next week:
Film Screening & Lecture Series - November 4-5
Academy Award nominated writer/director Gregory Nava whose films include SELENA, MI FAMILIA and EL NORTE will screen two of his films; EL NORTE, the Oscar nominated classic about Immigration, and BORDERTOWN, the Jennifer Lopez thriller about hundreds of women brutally raped and murdered in Juarez, Mexico, on November 4th and 5th in Las Cruces, NM. Following the screening of EL NORTE will be a provocative discussion entitled, "Latinos Changing the U.S. & Hollywood"; and following the screening of BORDERTOWN, the real life hero of the film, Barbara Martinez Jitner, will hold a discussion entitled, "Mass Murder at our Border".
This free screening and lecture series is part of a continuing outreach series to from New Mexico Filmmakers Program. Both events will take place at the Rio Grande Theatre. Details are below and a flyer is attached.
