Gary,
That's one of the aspects of the plan that I don't think any one person or institution took ownership of, but I think we're beginning to see its implementation through IDEAL NM with some additional aspects part of the 1st Mile Intitiative, and a component of fleshing out how schools will connect with New Mexico's Computing Application Center (or supercomputer) as well.
We plan to discuss some of this -- and how the media community can be more involved -- at MIX, the fifth annual Media Industries Summit and Conference in January.
For those of us aware of what's been happening at NMSU, Dona Ana Community College, and other places throughout the southern half of the state, it's sometimes surprising that more people don't know. We hope to share more here, at MIX and in the future.
Also... looking again at some of what was called for in the state's Media Industries Strategic Plan (visit http://www.altmedianm.org for more info), while some of the names and particulars have changed, it's kind of amazing to see what has been done, and how many of these items have progressed and evolved. Take a look when you have a chance.
Best wishes,
Eric

There is reference on the MISP site to ACEQUIAnet. I would like to learn more, but I have been unable to locate any information or status on the project – can anyone provide Web references?

Pete,
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Even more, I appreciate your enthusiasm for the future. NM can be and should be developing its resources and talented artists for these emerging innovations.
There are many.
Happy Thanksgiving to all!

***This is a MISP Listserv message. Responses are sent to the list by default.*** ***For more info about MISP and the listserv, scroll to the bottom of the page*** * Hello All,
Just a quick report on the newest 3D release in case you haven't seen it yet. Bolt in 3D opened with a $27M weekend and proved to be another in a string of very well done 3D movies. Both the story and production were excellent! There were some fresh and creative 3D perspectives that I thought worked very nicely and the feedback from the four 10 to 12 year olds we took was overwhelmingly positive. It struck me again how much room there still is for new and unique artistic expressions in the 3D storytelling medium. I also overheard a younger kid say to his parents on the way out that, "I'm taking these glasses to every movie from now on!" As you can imagine, there were smiles shared between all the adults within earshot. Mine may have been the broadest.
Another interesting fact for us in central New Jersey (Bridgewater, for those of you who know the state) is that it's now only 20 minutes to the closest 3D theater - as opposed to ~40 minutes a few months ago. This is another clear sign that the upgrades required to bring the number of 3D-enabled theaters in the US to 10,000 in the next 24 months are proceeding rapidly. With more than 30 3D features in some stage of production today, there's no doubt that NM will have it's fair shot at attracting some of the new wave of 3D action. The question is, can NM get an unfair share of the burgeoning 3D opportunity? With the major part of the industry growth happening in "new media", which includes 3D, it's good to see that there is already thinking about how to position NM to benefit most greatly from these prospects. I'm sure we'll continue to hear about new and creative ways to be more competitive as things continue to evolve.
For now, enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday and if you have the option, take the extra drive and pay the extra couple bucks to see Bolt in 3D. It's worth it.
Looking forward to seeing you all back on the enchanted side soon,
Pete Rogina
